Responding to the Flood Situation in Assam
Flooding continues to affect several parts of Assam, disrupting homes, livelihoods, and access to essential supplies. In such situations, timely assistance can make an immediate difference to families facing loss and displacement.
As part of the ongoing response, Sewa Europe is supporting relief initiatives led by Sewa International Bharat (SIB), working alongside corporate partners, donors, and volunteers to reach people in need. Sewa Europe has been instrumental in donating funds from family donation drive corpus from its various chapters like Norway, Sweden, and Germany.
200 Households Receive Essential Supplies

A recent distribution took place in Robi Gaon village in Jorhat district, where 200 households experienced severe losses due to the floods. Several families lost their homes and livestock, leaving them in urgent need of basic necessities.
With the support of IndusInd Bank, Sewa volunteers distributed:
200 relief kits
200 ration kits
The supplies were provided to all 200 households to help them manage their immediate requirements during the aftermath of the flooding.
Door-to-Door Distribution in Robi Gaon

The initiative began with the flagging off of the relief-kit vehicle from the IndusInd Bank branch in Jorhat.
Sewa volunteers then travelled to Robi Gaon and delivered the kits directly to households. The door-to-door approach ensured that assistance reached families at their homes while allowing volunteers to understand the situation on the ground.
For residents who had already lost homes and livestock, receiving essential food and household supplies provided practical assistance at a difficult time.
Collaboration Makes a Wider Response Possible
This initiative was made possible through the combined efforts of Sewa International Bharat, Sewa Europe, IndusInd Bank, CSR partners, donors, and volunteers.
Such collaboration allows resources to move quickly from donors and organisations to people facing emergencies. Every contribution, whether through corporate funding, individual donations, or volunteer participation, strengthens the overall response.
Continuing the Effort
The work in Robi Gaon is one example of how coordinated action can help families recover from the immediate impact of a natural disaster.
Sewa Europe will continue supporting humanitarian initiatives that connect donors and partners with communities requiring assistance. With sustained collaboration, more families across flood-affected areas of Assam can receive the essentials they need during this challenging period.
Together, we can turn timely assistance into meaningful action for families rebuilding after the floods.
