Inspiring young minds through Yoga: School Outreach by Sewa Europe Germany

Sewa Europe Germany celebrated International Yoga Day 2026 in schools and kindergartens in  Frankfurt area.

Conducted in collaboration with HSS, VHP, Art of Living (AOL) and the Consulate General of India (CGI), the initiative embraced the message “Teach Them Young” highlighting how introducing yoga at an early age can help children build physical fitness, emotional balance, concentration, and self-discipline.

Yoga sessions across educational institutions

The outreach programme was conducted across educational institutions during June 2026, with each session carefully designed to suit the age group of the participants.

On June 22, Sewa Europe volunteers led multiple yoga sessions in Sonnentau Schule in Oberthausen for more than 140 students from Classes 3 and 4, along with their teachers throughout the morning.

With the dedicated efforts of Chandrashekhar Joshi, Mary Fernandes, Rajsheree Ji, and Sewa volunteer and project coordinator Dr. Suman Narayan, students explored yoga postures, breathing techniques, stretching, and relaxation exercises. Teachers also joined the sessions, making it a truly engaging experience for the entire school community.

Earlier on June 11, Ramya Lakshmesha introduced Class 2 students of Schwalbach’s Geschwister-Scholl-Schule to basic yoga through simple postures, breathing exercises, and playful activities, helping them develop flexibility, balance and focus.

On June 17, Sewa Europe organized another programme at Kita unter dem Regenbogen in Obertshausen. Béatrice Lachaussée led playful yoga sessions for more than 80 kindergarten children. Prasad Nandamuri also conducted a special session for the Erzieherinnen (teaching staff), focusing on yoga for stress management and better posture.

Dedicated volunteers, inspiring young minds

Through this initiative, Sewa Europe brought the practice of yoga directly into the classroom, encouraging children to embrace mindfulness, discipline, and healthy habits while demonstrating the power of volunteers to create meaningful community impact.
