Nepal Flash Flood Relief Webinar: Ground Update and Rehabilitation

Sewa International Europe organised a special webinar on Saturday, 12 September 2026, to share updates on the situation following the devastating flash floods in Nepal and discuss ongoing relief efforts and proposed long-term rehabilitation initiatives.
The webinar brought together the Sewa International Nepal team, volunteers and members of the Sewa International Europe community to provide the latest verified information available at the time of the session. The initiative aimed to keep donors, volunteers, well-wishers and the wider community informed about the challenges faced by affected communities and the support required for recovery.
Updates from the Ground
The session focused on the evolving situation in flood-affected areas, the status of relief operations and the humanitarian needs of affected families. Participants received updates from the Sewa Nepal team on the areas reached by response teams, immediate relief requirements and the challenges encountered during field activities.
Damaged roads, rubble, debris and disrupted infrastructure continued to make access difficult in several locations. Information from some affected areas remained limited, highlighting the challenges faced by relief teams in reaching vulnerable communities and assessing their needs.
A dedicated interaction with a Sewa volunteer involved in field activities was also included in the programme to provide a firsthand perspective on the situation, the challenges faced by volunteers and the most urgent requirements on the ground.
From Immediate Relief to Long-Term Rehabilitation
Beyond the immediate emergency response, the webinar addressed the transition from relief distribution to recovery and rehabilitation. Discussions covered emerging needs, support for affected families, proposed community and infrastructure support initiatives, and opportunities for European chapters and supporters to contribute to the next phase of recovery.
The session also highlighted the importance of continued coordination between Sewa teams in Nepal and Europe to ensure that assistance responds to verified needs and supports affected communities throughout the recovery process.
Questions, Community Engagement and Continued Support
The programme included a question-and-answer session, allowing participants to raise questions for the Nepal team and field volunteers. Questions submitted during registration were to be prioritised, with additional live questions addressed as time permitted.
Sewa International Europe also planned to share updates on its awareness initiatives, community outreach and efforts to mobilise support for Nepal. The session was scheduled to conclude with guidance and remarks from Mananiya Shyamji Parande, encouraging continued solidarity and support for the affected communities.
Standing with Nepal
The webinar was intended to provide a platform for transparent communication, verified updates and meaningful engagement at a time when the situation in several affected areas remained challenging. By connecting the European Sewa community with teams and volunteers working in Nepal, the initiative sought to strengthen awareness, coordination and continued support for relief and rehabilitation.
Sewa International Europe remains committed to supporting humanitarian efforts and encouraging collective action to help affected families rebuild their lives.
